Earth Hour 2009

As a family we sat in the dark with candles. We played board games and cards. We talked about why we were in the dark. The kids thought it was going to be boring but by the end of the hour they were asking when we could do it again. When 9:30 ticked on by we decided to leave the lights off and just turn some music on. We danced, sang and talked until the kids started to drift off to dream land one by one.
This night did not go off without a hitch though. We had candles on the floor so we could see the cards better. We were done playing cards so I picked up said candles and promptly spilled wax on the couch…oh yes i did!!
So we did have to turn a light on at 9:35 for 30 seconds to see just how badly I ruined the couch…it’s okay now…i think. You can still sit on it so I guess it serves its purpose.
Here’s to Earth Hour every now and then. Not just one night a year but several…..

These girls……these girls……

They were born 6 months apart…spent the first 2 years of their lives together almost everyday. Then we moved and they moved…..sad really…. They don’t seem to miss a beat when they do see each other. My mom (the rockstar) drove out with Ally (JJ’s second cousin, thanks patrick for clarification) to surprise JJ (as seen in video below). Tonight they decided to bake cookies…

Good Times were had..my side hurts..these girls are hysterical …

and they really adore each other…i see them being at each others side in marriage and child birth.

Mr. Fun and I are taking them out for a photo shoot tomorrow….so stay tuned.

good times ahead…

creative fan club title here….

Wy has been sick and missed three days of school. His teacher called to check on him and said that the class really misses him. She also said that he was the glue that held the class together, how sweet and unbelievable is that?
This morning when his friends saw him walking to school through the fence they all came running over one by one. They were screaming Wyatt, we missed you…Wyatt, it’s been so long since we’ve seen you. Look Wyatt’s back” By the time we got to the end of the fence he had about 10 friends super excited to see him back. As we walked to line up he had a smug grin on his face. He lined up and before I could get my hug goodbye the girls swarmed him hugging him while squelling Wyatt I missed you, never be gone that long again… Wyatt today is going to be so good because you are back…Wyatt will you sit by me at lunch? All the while Wy just grinned and shrugged his shoulders like he was the popular boy on the swin team. I say swim team because I don’t want him playing football. He really kept his cool and acted as if all this attention he was getting was normal. I was so wishing I had my camera on me. It was such a sight to see. He’s going to be the one we have to watch…

He was so nervous to go back to school today too. He got a little teary eyed and said what if i miss you today? I assured him the day would fly by and no need to worry..not sure he believed me until he saw how much his friends missed him.

Luck was on my side…

I have four children..all healthy, a husband that adores me and family that lives by the beach. I know I know..I once lived closer to the beach but I don’t now so having relatives that do is A+.

It was a bit chilly for us lizards but we toughed it out and had a wonderful afternoon at the beach.
G was running a fever and we woke him up from a nap to head to the beach. Thank goodness for motrin kicking in and allowing him to enjoy the water and sand. That didn’t change his opinion on getting his photo taken though.

What we didn’t know is that Wy was going to come down with the same illness that evening…

JJ was the first one in the water and last one out…like always. She is growing up way to freaking fast…seems like yesterday she was a little blob that would just sit and eat sand at the beach.

T…what a crack pot!!! I didn’t bother taking his shoes off or rolling his pants more than once once we got there. I didn’t even think about putting him in a suit for he would NEVER get close enough to the water to get wet. He made a liar out of me…..

HHOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWL!!!!

We went to the Coyotes game last night. They played the Sharks..it was an action packed game. 4 fights, tied game in the third period.

Wy is the only one that would ever get up on Mr. Fun’s shoulders….the other three would be in tears. They get that from me. It did get him a free t-shirt.

G doesn’t like it when we get loud….you would think he would be used to loud, he has T and Wy as brothers.

and these two were so cute last night passing time in between periods. JJ’s face is what makes this photo a favorite of mine. FISHY FISHY!!!

We were surrounded by Sharks fans…oh that was so much fun…NOT!!! A few of these Sharks fans didn’t like our howling and chanting. Every time we would start there was one that would turn around give us a dirty look…puuuleease!! It’s the Yotes arena and you are annoyed with the Yotes fans..Go home dude..just go home.

The Yotes scored the winning goal in the last 30 seconds of the game. Final score 3-4!!

G did not celebrate with us because he was pouting over something or other…made for a great photo ….shhhhh… don’t tell him that.

And a rare photo of the Mr. and I. Taken by JJ :) Notice the purse..LOVE it..its so yummy!!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Did you know that the shamrock was called seamroy by the Celts. The Irish considered it a sacred plant because it symbolized the rebirth of spring.

This day I was awake too early and I am beginning to think my kids forgot it was spring break. All last week I had to go in their rooms and wake them at 7:30 to make a mad dash to get to school in time. The past two days they have been up at 7…..yeah, they got it all wrong.

Here is where I would write all the things that popped in my head to blog about but I have forgotten all of it. I do remember standing there in my driveway watching the kids ride their bikes and blogging in my head about something ……. i have forgotten what any of those thoughts were.
I do remember watching my neighbor struggle with his 18 month old, she wouldn’t stay out of the street. Do you blame her though? All the big kids were running around in the street. So she’s thinking “why can’t i?”.
This is when I realized I am past wanting another baby. I SAT there watching him chase after her, as i sipped my adult beverage, and thought “yeah, i don’t want to go through that phase again” I was very content at that very moment. My kids are growing and I am enjoying them. (as much i can) The sassy mouth and the fighting and the screaming and the back talk is not so enjoyable but I figure it’s a packaged deal. Like the variety pack of granola bars, there’s always the one or two flavors that you don’t care for but eat anyways.

The kids have been sick the past 2 weeks. T missed a whole week of school, which is only 2 days for him, because of a fever and cough. The next week Wy missed 3 days of school thanks to some eye virus(not pink eye) and cough. This week JJ is fighting the good fight with a cough and sore throat. Hopefully this is the worst of it for us. I hope G doesn’t get it and if he does its before school starts up. He’s got perfect attendance going on for the second year in a row.

A Target Tantrum

Two…the age two…how I long for the age of two. I am not sure how the age two got the rap of being terrible. Now the horrible three’s are exhausting but the child is still cute enough that you get through them. Now lets talk about the age four….oy…the age four needs an adjective before it…..hm….let me think…
Fascinating Fabulous FRUSTRATING FOURS!!! YEP! that is it, they are frustrating. See, a child that is four is smart, they have logic, no more because I said. They ask why not?? and not just why?? They reason back yet they still can’t keep their emotions in check. When they are mad, boy, do you know it.

So this brings us to yesterday….we went to Target to price bikes. G needed a new bike. He had outgrown his current bike last year. So we decided on a bike and then went to “look” at star wars stuff, it’s something we “have” to do every time we make a run to Target… we never buy anything and sometimes we have some tears and folded arms with stomping feet but walk out without causing a scene. Yesterday was a different story…oh yes it was. T had had green day at school….he was on sugar let down and boy could you tell.

It started with him throwing himself on the floor and continued to electronics after daddy picked him up.

We then we hit the baby sections where he was screaming I want my little guys and housewares where we showed him how silly he looked…didn’t phase him.

We got to check out where we decided I should take T outside where he could cool down. He quickly ran away from me to the carts…. where I think he felt safe. He was, however, stilled pissed off at the world.

He finally calmed down enough to face the world with silence….but the emotion can still be seen on his face.

Later that day he says “so if i whine and scream i don’t get little guys” WOW!!! maybe being four will get easier on all of us.

Glorious March…how I love you!!

It’s the month you can sit out on the hammock and star gaze. Wy and T helped dad grill up some delicious steak and chicken. Wy can eat half of a large steak now…our food bill will certainly outweigh our mortgage in a few short years. I walked out to see if that half of dinner was ready and this is what I found. They were looking at Venus.

It’s also the month you can still wear pants and play in water without over heating or freezing……

JJ soaked T through…so much he insisted on changing clothes right away. Gotta ease into that running around with wet clothes on.

Now some random photos from our afternoon spent washing cars, pulling reads, playing basketball and enjoying each other…. I love March!

Thank you Grandpa Mike, Grandma Liz and Uncle Zach for the helmets, they are a hit!!!!

Vegas…. baby!!! Part ONE!

Mr. Fun and I went to Vegas to meet up with friends. Friday night we had a party at Leah’s house. We were best friends in 7th and 8th grade. We were always together and always laughing. I hadn’t talked to some of these girls since 8th grade and others our senior year. Nothing has changed, i think we all think we are all still teenagers but with mortgages and kids.

It was seriously the most fun I have had in a long time. It felt so good to go back. There were shots involved..which I did not take part in. Mr. Fun however loved him some jager and was cursing the jager the next morning when we had a 10 am photo shoot…. But doesn’t he look sexy with that shot glass?

Mr. Fun and Marcy had a conspiracy theory about the dog and the food…. good times. Yes, the dog was stealing food off the counter and some ate the food after that but I am not naming names….I am nice like that.

After all these years they still got my back….i go down they all go down.
