Why I do what I do…. {Phoenix Photographer}

I do this because I look at a photo and see a story…I see that 6 year old that is only 6 for 365 days.
I see a 6 month old that is sitting in one spot possibly for the last time. I see a 1 year old’s profile that won’t hold still…..I see a family that will look back and say “remember this day………….”

Pictures indeed talk….not only do they talk, they tell stories that would have been forgotten. They freeze a smile, they help you remember the sound of laughter…..they help you remember to be grateful for all you have.

Can you hear them?

Music {Phoenix Photographer}

I love music, all music. I started thinking….those that know me know this usually ends up with some crazy cool outcome…..I want to photograph a garage band. I have a crazy cool idea.
So, if you know of a garage band or you are in a garage band, are a mother to someone that has a band practicing in your garage and want a quiet Saturday night, email me @ mdawsonphoto@gmail.com.

The Days of Summer {Phoenix Photographer}

It seems that we can finally put the hot triple digits behind us. It’s about time, wouldn’t you say? This summer was a brutal one. Why am I talking about this, you wonder?
My sessions dates are filling up fast and I have many inquires out there. So if you want to get family or senior photos this fall you better book soon. The deadline for holiday photos is November 8th.

I can’t wait to hear from you :)

Anthony+Rebecca=Lydia Amelí&Paul Vincent {Phoenix Photographer}

What an amazing and fun family. These four stole my heart as soon as I met them.

I took Vincent so mom could finish getting ready and while we got to know each other I managed to play the best peek-a-boo game with Amelí. She’s just lucky I didn’t sneak her out with me in my bag.

What a happy baby…he loved being in the air, his face would light up. I love watching him so much I almost forgot to take pictures.

And here is one that just cracks me up…..I think it speaks for itself.

This little girl is so full of personality.

Thank you Anthony and Rebecca for inviting me into your home, I had a great time.

Another peek at Matt+Shannon {Phoenix Photographer}

I don’t think I heard him say two words the whole evening. That is okay because his smile says it all. He’s a proud Grandpa.

and hers….she was so happy and proud to be marrying her prince.

Oh and look at him…look at this smile as he saw his new bride walking towards him….doesn’t get any better….

Thanks again Matt and Shannon for allowing me the privilege to share such a special day with you.

Steve+Kate=Sam&Myles

I am in a black and white mood today. So today I post black and white. You do know what this means though, right? It means you get two sneak peeks.

Some photos are meant to be looked at…this photo is one to cherish. Grandma and Grandpa showed up for the session and so glad they did. I don’t have many photos of me with my grandparents and I wish I did now that I am older.

This little man would NOT hold still for nothing. There was room to run and that is just what he did…RAN and RAN! His giggles could be heard from far away and so we let him RUN and RUN!

There’s just something about daddy and that first born son….

Thank you Colgan family for putting up with me all weekend and sharing your family with me. I can’t wait to come back.

Matt and Shannon…The Details {Ohio Photographer}

What a beautiful wedding and a beautiful bride. Thank you Matt and Shannon for allowing me to capture such a special day. I wish you many years of great memories and happiness.

The guys thought I was INSANE for taking this shot. They didn’t get it……it’s all in the details.

See you later Ohio {Phoenix Photographer}

I was going to title this “Goodbye Ohio” but changed my mind. I don’t want to think of it as a goodbye, I would rather think of it as a “see you later”.

I want to say thank you to Steve and Kate for opening their home to me and buying me some new clothes. Long story short, Continental lost my luggage. They said they had no idea where it was and sent me on way with NOTHING. I had a direct flight so I am not sure how they lost it. Luckily I had almost all my equipment with me as carry on since they didn’t deliver my bag until after the wedding and reception.
I enjoyed my time in Ohio, despite the cold that numbed my fingers during our Sunday afternoon session. I hope to get a chance to go back some day.
Also a big thank you to Matt and Shannon for allowing me the pleasure to be a part of your special day.

sneak peeks to follow soon…..

Off to OHIO…. {Phoenix Photographer}

I will be away from the internet until Tuesday but receiving emails via my phone. You have to love technology.
October is about booked up and the deadline for holiday photos is November 8th. So if you haven’t booked yet shoot me an email and lets get you booked.

Now I am guessing you are wondering why Ohio, so I will tell you. I am shooting an outdoor wedding and a couple family sessions. The forecast says RAIN and more rain. This lizard also heard how cold it is there, I may freeze.

Have a great weekend.

On another note…I have been meaning to write about this but I haven’t had the time. My husband never ceases to amaze me. He let his employees throw pies in his face to raise money for United Way . He even offered to buy me a pie to throw in his face. I am smarter than that.

I sat back and watched as his employees threw pie after pie and laughed and laughed. It was great.

Know when you shop Kohl’s you are also helping many charities. My daughter, her friend and my husband also spent one Sunday painting at the The Weldon House with Kohl’s A-Team.
